My Swiftie Story:

In 2019, before my freshman year of high school, "ME! feat. Brendon Urie" came out. At the time, I was a big fan of Panic! At The Disco, so I was really excited about the song, and I loved it when I came out. Because of that, I started loosely following the Lover album rollout and loved it when it came out. I remember walking home from school and blasting "Afterglow"! It really was the perfect time for me to become a fan of Taylor. I had lost my friends from grade school, who I had been in the same class as for 5 years or more, I was starting in a brand new school, and Taylor was also the beginning of my transition to a new kind of music, the kind I still listen to now. After Lover, I listened to reputation and loved it, but I was mostly still a casual listener. Then, Taylor surprise-announced folklore and I was more excited for a new album than I had ever been. I listened to it the night it came out and absolutely fell in love. I had never listened to that kind of music before, and Taylor got me hooked, and that album also got me into Lana Del Rey, my second favorite artist! I listened to folklore all summer and autumn and was even more in love with it when the Long Pond Studio Sessions came out. I still realize new meanings in the songs of that album, 2 years later, and I probably will forever! Then, that December, evermore was surprise-announced and released! I was once again obsessed and I still can't stop listening to it when the cold weather hits. Those sister albums introduced me to a type of music and lyricism I had never before listened to, and it became part of my favorite style of music. One of the things that most intrigued me were the love triangle of folklore ("cardigan", "august", & "betty"), and the two lost lovers of evermore ("'tis the damn season" & "dorothea"). I never really listened to many songs that told a story so separate from the artist's life, and I thought it was so cool and I was so interested. In March of 2021, I wrote my first little section of a song, and I realized that was what I wanted to do with my life. Before I figured that out, I felt really lost. I know I was young, but I went through a lot of friend drama, only to lose them, and not find any close, real ones until my Junior year. I didn't know what I wanted to do, I felt like I had no purpose, and I was just really down. Then, folklore came out, then evermore, then inspiration! I felt so incredibly better once I found songwriting because I could finally see myself doing something that I enjoyed, and now, it's all I see myself doing.I have listened to all of Taylor's albums by now and I'm even more in love, and I will truly be forever grateful to her. She helped me find my true self, and I hope I am able to thank her one day.(yes I wrote over 500 words, what about it?)She truly is such a big part of my life, and if you're interested, my mediocre paper from Junior year I had to write about a famous and talented woman is right below. Of course, I chose to write about Taylor.
